Course and enrolment questions
What is Petroleum Academy?
Petroleum Academy is a specialist private training platform for practical downstream petroleum industry competence.
Who are the courses for?
Courses are built for fuel wholesalers, retailers, depot operators, fuel handlers, developers, investors, compliance teams, petroleum entrepreneurs and business owners.
Are the courses online?
Yes. Courses are intended to be delivered online through Teachy unless a corporate arrangement states otherwise.
What are the R899 short courses?
These are focused practical petroleum skills courses. They can be purchased individually, grouped into bundles or used as building blocks for certificate pathways.
What are flagship programmes?
Flagship programmes are deeper, higher-value courses with broader curriculum, resources, assessment structure and a stronger certificate pathway.
Can companies enrol staff?
Yes. Corporate training can be structured around teams, branches, depots, compliance departments, wholesale operations, fuel-quality staff or AI productivity needs.
Certificates and recognition
Do learners receive certificates?
Yes. Learners may receive a Petroleum Academy Certificate of Completion or Certificate of Competence depending on the course structure and assessment requirements.
What is the difference between completion and competence?
A Certificate of Completion confirms course participation/completion. A Certificate of Competence should only be used where an assessment or competence activity is included.
Can certificates be verified?
Yes. Certificate verification requests can be submitted through the Verify Certificate page once certificate numbering and records are in place.
Are the courses accredited?
Unless expressly stated, Petroleum Academy courses are private industry short courses and are not SAQA, QCTO, SETA or NQF qualifications.
What does FWA endorsement mean?
The correct wording is: curriculum reviewed and industry endorsed by the Fuel Wholesalers Association. It does not mean statutory accreditation unless expressly stated.
Can we say “certified”?
Use caution. Public wording should favour Certificate of Completion or Certificate of Competence unless a formal certification framework is approved.
